It's 1946 and Jack and Evie are now retired. They did a bit of espionage during World War II but have decided it's now the easy life for them. The only problem is that they are now quite bored so they jump at the chance to deliver a precious gem which the UK government is returning to China. Evie's brother Jonathan is now running a nightclub in Shanghai and they are surprised to also find their son Alex who is supposed to be at university but has on an archaeological dig with an old friend, Professor Roger Wilson. They soon find themselves involved in intrigue as a corrupt Chinese General needs the gem to resurrect Emperor Han and his army who have been dead for thousands of years. In ancient China, the sorceress Zi Yuan curses the Emperor Qin for killing General Ming, Zi Yuan's secret lover and stabs her with a dagger. Centuries later, The O'Connells was tricked into awakening the emperor and must stop him before he awakens his army and rules brutally once again. After having seen "The Dark Knight", a movie that has every chance of becoming a classic, I was pretty skeptical going into an action movie, that would probably depend on its special effects, rather than its story. Well, it was pretty much like I expected, but I was entertained and enjoyed myself during most part of the movie.<br/><br/>I really like Brendan Fraser. He will probably never win an Oscar, but he's very sympathetic and humorous, and I usually enjoy the movies he's in, including this one. He manages to make the audience smile and laugh quite a bunch of times and he's fit to carry a movie by himself.<br/><br/>This is definitely not Jet Li's best role, but not the worst either and he has some pretty good fighting scenes. Michelle Yeoh always seems to be surrounded with a mysterious aura, no matter what role she plays. Maria Bello, Luke Ford and most of the cast does quite well, but this is not an acting movie,and there are other things much more important.<br/><br/>The special effects are great and I'm always surprised, how far technology has advanced over the past years. As for the dialogue, well, I guess it's always the same with those kind of movies.. it doesn't really make much sense, but somehow it's good enough not to be totally ridiculous.<br/><br/>Something that always disturbs me is that there always seems to be a solution to every problem, and if there's none, the writers just come up with some far-fetched idea of mythical monsters or mysterious places.<br/><br/>All in all, The Mummy III, is not the best movie of the year, but makes a good impression on a big screen and you will most certainly enjoy yourself, if you can live with some logical flaws.<br/><br/>7.5/10 When i saw the trailer of this movie, i was so excited. I had decided to definitely watch it at theater, but due to busy schedule i couldn't. Then I purchased the original DVD to enjoy the full show at my home theater. But guys It was extremely disappointing. The movies was made just for quick cash. There was nothing to appreciate in movie except the starting part of the movie(i.e. till its name comes up). After then its all sadness. Extremely disappointing. I have still kept first two mummy movies on my PC. and the third part, after seeing,i immediately deleted it.<br/><br/>The first disappointment was the cast itself, lack of Evelyn really felt there. But the substitute for the Evelyn didn't performed well. It was like she is just a doing time-pass there. The all the casts other except Brandon, lee were also disappointing. and no question, Brandon and his son were looking of same age.he he<br/><br/>And what to say there is many more to say, movie wasn't sequenced well, locations were just added randomly, no connections. I mean it was extremely extremely sadness. I am giving this movie only 1, because of its starting part only. As for Fraser, his clumsy humanity is endearing, but by now, assuming he has invested wisely, he should have enough money saved so as to not have to waste his talent anymore. While there, they meet up with Evy's brother Jonathan (<a href="/name/nm0001314/">John Hannah</a>), now the owner of a nightclub in Shanghai, and encounter the evil General Yang (<a href="/name/nm0938893/">Anthony Chau-Sang Wong</a>), who wants to resurrect the Emperor and his army. Aided by Zi's immortal daughter Lin (<a href="/name/nm1884816/">Isabella Leong</a>), three yetis, and an army of undead soldiers, the O'Connells must prevent the Emperor from taking over the world. Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is the third movie in The Mummy series, preceded by <a href="/title/tt0120616/">The Mummy (1999)</a> (1999) and <a href="/title/tt0209163/">The Mummy Returns (2001)</a> (2001). The screenplay was co-written by American screenwriter Alfred Gough and British screenwriter Miles Millar. A novelization, also titled The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, written by American writer Max Allan Collins (who also novelized the first two movies), was released concurrently with the movie. The film was patterned in part on a real-life Qin Dynasty emperor Qin Shi Huang [260-210 BCE], known for unifying the Great Wall of China as it existed at the time and for his search for an elixir of immortality. He was buried in a mausoleum that also contained thousands of terracotta soldiers, horses, and chariots, collectively called the Terracotta Army. Rick and Alex follow the Emperor under the Great Wall. Alex attempts to stop him, but the Emperor knocks him unconscious against a wall. Rick tries to stab the Emperor with the magical dagger but gets knocked into a lit torch and drops the dagger, breaking it in half. Meanwhile, General Yang and his assistant Choi (<a href="/name/nm0579534/">Jessey Meng</a>) go after Lin and Evy. Lin manages to knock Yang into some moving gears which crush him and Choi. While Rick and the Emperor continue to fight each other, Alex comes to and notices the broken dagger lying in the sand. He picks up the tip, sneaks around behind the Emperor, and plunges the tip into his back. "Divide and conquer," says Rick, who picks up the remaining piece of the dagger and plunges it through the Emperor's heart. As the Emperor explodes into flames, the Terracotta army disintegrates into dust and is blown away. The undead soldiers cheer their victory before they, too, are returned to dust. The O'Connells and Lin return to Shanghai and celebrate their victory dancing at Imhotep's. In the final scene, Jonathan is shown getting into a taxi with the blue diamond. He announces his intention to move to Peru "where there are no mummies." A postscript then appears stating: "Soon after, mummies were found in Peru." The U.K.-based ES Magazine had an interview with <a href="/name/nm0001838/">Rachel Weisz</a> in the Nov. 16 issue. Her decision not to reprise Evelyn's role seems to be a part of being a mother and not being able to fit it into her schedule. She's quoted saying "I would have had to go to China for three months and I just can't travel like that any more." However, according to sources close to the production of Mummy 3 (as reported by Eonline, Cinemablend and iesb.net) Rachel did not like the bad script and chose not to do the film. <a href="/name/nm0090222/">Freddie Boath</a> has been replaced by 26-year-old Australian actor Luke Ford. Ford will carry the torch for the franchise, if future films are made, as Brendan Fraser has now completed his three picture deal. In the previous films, Ardeth Bay was the guardian of Imhotep's tomb which was in Egypt.
